“it’s too hard” it’s okay if it can’t be easy!

+ ask people who have made a neocities if you are struggling, many people won’t be aggravated that you send an email asking where or how they learned to set up their webpage! like me and my page! i love emails!

+ start small, have reasonable goals set in mind! there is no such thing as a step too small! it took me several weeks just to figure out basic CSS!

+ don’t focus on it being good or presentable, focus on being able to understand what you did so you can grow from where you left off.

+ if you don’t have enough energy to do what you don’t know yet, have more fun with what you do know! don’t know how to style a page yet, but know how to add fun images, links, and text modifiers? slap some more in there!

+ have fun with your web page! all i post about on my pink little website is video games, dog trivia, with miscellaneous buttons, stamps, and quizzes! it’s my site, my house, my rules, my fun!

+ ask for help, the worst they can say is “i don’t know!”, or “i can’t help you!”

Best advice I can give about learning to code is

- Learn on the basis of what things are used for, then you'll have an easier time looking for references (which you will absolutely need to do over and over)

- Learn variables, loops and functions and understand that they're the base of most programming languages, the difference is in the syntax

- Instead of trying to memorize everything, keep a cheat sheet in hand. Some things are always going to be needed, but others are needed only on occasion, you'll eventually memorize the former through constant practice

- Rewrite the codes you're studying. Familiarity with what you're seeing is not a reliable indicator of having learned how to replicate it

-Once you've got the hang of something, you can start using the numerous tools people have created to make doing it easier

i also made a video on making a very simple neocities page from scratch for people who have never coded anything before!

(and i say this in the vid as well but while w3school teaches you the basics, stackoverflow will be your best friend for answers on finding answers to specific problems you may run into while coding!)
